Watch an example of direct thought reading.
Before you watch the video it might be useful to clarify the difference between mind reading and thought reading. They are often used interchangeably, but they can have slightly different connotations depending on the context. Here’s a breakdown of the differences:
1. Mind reading generally refers to the ability to perceive or understand someone’s thoughts, emotions, or intentions at a subliminal level. Gaining an insight into someone’s innermost thoughts and feelings is a fundamental human ability. It the understanding of non-verbal cues, body language, and facial expressions to infer someone’s mental state that makes us social animals. Some people aren’t able to do this and this can lead to a lack of empathy or social awareness.
2. Thought reading specifically refers to the act of discerning or accessing specific conscious thoughts. It involves the ability to perceive the specific ideas, concepts, or mental images that are actively present in a person’s mind. Thought reading typically focuses on the explicit thoughts that a person is consciously aware of, rather than delving into their deeper subconscious or unconscious processes. It is not possible to pluck a specific thought from someone’s mind without them willingly sending it to you. Psychics and mentalists use a variety of psychological subtleties to perform thought reading.
In summary, mind reading encompasses a broader range of abilities, including the interpretation of non-verbal cues, while thought reading specifically refers to accessing and understanding a person’s conscious thoughts. However, it’s important to note that both terms are often used interchangeably in casual conversation and may not always have a clear distinction in practice. For example, I chose to use the words ‘Mind reading’ in the title of the video even though I am performing ‘Thought Reading’.
